Thomas Asbury said he his fiancé, Leighann Bryson, are lucky to be alive after seeking shelter in a bathroom at their Pottawatomie County home, where they clenched each other's wrists and prayed as Sunday's tornado ripped apart their house.

“We saw it coming toward us and we took off,” said Becka Ward-Flowers, whose home on Clearpond Road between Fishmarket and Walker roads was leveled by a tornado Sunday evening.

Jim Kinnamon of Shawnee showed up Sunday night at the Expo Center driving a pickup truck pulling a tractor with a front end loader. He was told to head to Bethel Road north of the river where the roadway was completely blocked because of a down tree.

For Raegan Permetter, 11, the physical injuries she suffered after being hit by a car last fall have slowly healed. And while she remembers nothing about the accident itself, the lingering effects of a traumatic brain injury are still part of her day-to-day life.
