Two best friends from Arkansas had cause for celebration Sunday as they checked in at the IFYR—one of them turning 18.
Lori Southard, 18, Atkins, Ark., and Breana Langford, 15, from Springdale, Ark., checked in, with many saying “Happy Birthday” to Southard after seeing her date of birth.
Southard will compete in barrel racing this week, while Langford is team roping with her partner, Parker Warner. Langford and Warner will head to the National Finals in Farmington, N.M., just as soon as they finish here at the IFYR.
Southard and Langford, who are best friends, said they are more like sisters. They will “be cheering for each other,” this week, Southard said.
Langford said the objective is to be confident in themselves and do their best.
“We want to make the Top 15,” Southard said.
