At a double ring ceremony, Lindsay Nicole Stewart was married to Steven Lee Payne, April 5. Originally the event was to be held at The Venue on Main in Shawnee but because of uncontrollable circumstances, the wedding was held at the Northridge Church of Christ in Shawnee with Ed Cadenhead of Seminole officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Susie and Rick Stewart; and Cindy and Charlie Crawford of Tecumseh. She is the granddaughter of Katherine Stewart of Shawnee and the late Hoot Stewart; Jack Motley of Tecumseh and the late Pat Motley.
The groom-elect is the son of Lois Payne of Macomb and the late Patrick Payne.
The bride entered the ceremony on the arm of her father and with her son, Wade, to Bob Carlisle’s “Butterfly Kisses.” She wore an A-line gown of white satin with a scalloped sweetheart neckline and black beaded lace. She carried a bouquet filled with pale and hot pink lilies and wore a Monique 2-tier veil with a scalloped edge and beaded motif. Her bridal headpiece was made of small pearls and Swarovski crystals.
The bride was accompanied by her sister and Maid of Honor Candi Stokes, as well as longtime friends and bridesmaids, Tracy Rowland, Tara Owens, Amber Reinduea and Rikki Earls. Attendants wore black strapless, tea-length dresses with empire waistlines.
Serving as flower girls were the bride’s nieces, Kassady Crawford and Baylee Crawford. They wore matching white satin dresses with black beaded lace and they dropped white rose petals along the center aisle.
The groom was accompanied by his longtime friend, Best Man Cody Sipes. His groomsmen included friends, Josh Hughes, Zack Brown, Charley Givens and Derrick Worley.
Ushers Krayton Stewart, Trampas Crawford and Jason Prewett seated the guests as they arrived to a sanctuary filled with pink flowers, white pillars, heart-shaped candelabras and tunes of various artists selected by the bride and groom.
The couple, along with their son, had a unity sand ceremony after the exchanging of vows and rings.
A country love song was sung by Rachelle Sheppard, close friend of the bride.
The bride had something old, new, borrowed and blue: Her “old” was an embroidered handkerchief that was given to her by her late grandmother; her “new” was her dress; her shoes were “borrowed” from her stepmother; and her “blue” was her garter.
The reception was also held at Northridge Church of Christ; the couple had an engagement photo framed and the guests signed the mat around the picture.
A three-tiered, offset, white satin embossed cake topped with pink lilies awaited the guests in the church’s reception hall along with matching napkins printed with the couples’ name and wedding date on them. Guests dined on hors d’oeuvres and punch and visited with family and friends.
The couple is taking a honeymoon trip in the Caribbean this week and will live in Tecumseh.
