Since the Shawnee School District halted construction on its Jim Thorpe Track four years ago, and entered into litigation in February 2012, track development has been in limbo. In a special session Thursday, the Board of Education took action to complete the project.

Many Shawnee area AT&T landline customers, including St. Anthony Shawnee Hospital, have lost landline phone service after a three large telephone trunks that service this area were severed by a construction company on Friday, officials said.
