Pottawatomie county public libraries will have children and their care givers swarming to the library for the Summer Reading Program, “Catch the Reading Bug.”

Shawnee Public Library, 101 N. Philadelphia, begins their Children’s Summer Reading Program with registration at 2 p.m. June 2. The next day at 2 p.m. is the Big Magic Book Bugventure with Ryan Bellgardt. The Magic Book offers adventures full of music, laughter, and fun. June 4, the program Wiggle Your Wings and Other Things at 10 a.m. is for children 3 to 6 years and features creative movement, music, dance and games.

The second week of Summer Reading at Shawnee library has Rhythmically Speaking’s production of Antoinette and Cicada a musical play with a modern twist on Aesop’s Fable at 2 p.m June 10. On June 11, at 10 a.m., youngsters 3 to 6 years gather again for Wiggle Your Wings and Other Things. On June 12, at 2 p.m., Jamey Allen from the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture presents the “Ag in the Classroom” program, Be a Bug Scout.
McLoud Public Library has their first children’s program, with a Summer Reading Kickoff Ice Cream Ant-ics at 11 a.m. June 5. Children who sign up to participate in the reading program get bags and Hiland Dairy ice cream. On June 12, the Big Magic Book Bugventure begins at 11 a.m.
McLoud Library’s Children’s programs will be held at the American Legion Post 244, across the street from the library.
 Tecumseh Public Library, 114 N. Broadway, will present the Magic Of  Bugs program at 2 p.m. June 5. Magician Steve Crawford will use comedy and magic to take children to the mysterious world of insects. On June 12 Ryan Bellgardt will present Big Magic Book Bugventure at 2 p.m.  
The Children’s Summer Reading Program is part of a state-wide reading initiative developed by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries and offered with the support of Sonic, Ind., America’s Drive In. Touring programs in the Pioneer Library System are made possible through the support of Hitachi Computer Products (America), Inc., Oklahoma Arts Council, and Friends of the Library groups in each community.
