Seminole resident Albert Leger, 83, died Friday, May 23, 2008, in Seminole.
He was born Jan. 20, 1925 in Wilkes Barre, Pa., to Albert and Thelma (Remley) Leger.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1942 to 1945. He fought and was wounded in the battle of Guam.
He married Jesse Louise (Sims) Smith on June 29, 1946 in Ohio. They moved to Oklahoma City from Ohio in 1961. He first took a job with the Oklahoma City School Board and then in 1963 he went to work at Tinker Field where he worked until his retirement in 1985.
Upon his retirement he and his wife moved from Oklahoma City to Madill, Okla., and lived there happily for several years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jesse; his parents, Albert and Thelma; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Tim Goddard; sons, David Leger and Larry Smith; sister, Margie Noe; grandsons, Nathan Goddard and Michael Reed; and granddaughter, Lori Fletcher.
Survivors include special friend and companion, Karen Hughes of Seminole; sons, Tom (Jody) Smith of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; Jeffery Leger of Shawnee; Russell Leger of Oklahoma City; daughters, Linda (Jerry) Meyer of Okmulgee, Karen (Gene) Reed of Shawnee and Shari (Craig) Morgan of Tacoma, Wash,; a brother, Lloyd (Jane) Carey of Manchester, Mich.; sisters, Alice (Gene) Beavers of Toledo, Ohio, Jill (Al) Green of Garden City, Mich.,  Judy (Al) Kolosky of Mesquite, Nev., and Sandy (Morris) Carpenter of Jackson, Mich.; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Gene) Williams of McLoud; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Albert was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Walker Funeral Home with Donnie Knight officiating. Burial will be at Sunnylane Cemetery in Del City at 1 p.m.
