Casey Johnson was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Aaron Baker also had two runs for the Sooners (35-24-1), who will play the winner of the Stony Brook-Arizona State game Saturday night.
David Macias homered for the Commodores (40-21), who are vying for the school’s first-ever College World Series bid.
Oklahoma broke a 2-2 tie in the fifth when Aljay Davis singled, went to third when right fielder Dominic de la Osa misplayed Gosse’s single and scored on an RBI grounder to short.
The Sooners added four more runs in the sixth off Commodores starter Caleb Cotham, then withstood Vanderbilt’s three-run seventh — including Macias’ towering two-run homer to right — for the victory.
Gosse homered in the eighth to give Oklahoma the three-run lead.
Oklahoma starter Andrew Doyle allowed five runs on nine hits with two walks and two strikeouts for the victory.
Cotham surrendered seven runs — five earned — on nine hits. The redshirt freshman walked three and struck out three.
