The local All About Irish dance troupe will give a special performance at 5 p.m. Saturday at Pentecostal Holiness Church of Shawnee, 518 E. Seventh St.
The performance is in honor of the late Weldon Parker, a World War II veteran who supported the group. His niece is a dancer with the group, and his dream was to have the dancers perform at the American Legion post where he was a member. This concert, though held in a different place, is a fulfillment of that dream. A guest speaker also will highlight Parker’s military accomplishments.
Donations taken during the performance will help send the troupe to competitions in Ohio and New Mexico in August and October.
The dance troupe also is raffling a quilt made by Faye Stone that features a Celtic pattern. Tickets to win the quilt can be purchased at the dance performance, as well as from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Wal-Mart.
