At the 10 a.m. Mass Sunday, St. Benedict Catholic Church will honor couples who are celebrating anniversaries ranging from five years to 65 years. This is an annual event where couples renew their vows and have their marriages blessed by the parish priest.
This year, one couple, Kenneth and Doris Leone, are celebrating their 60th year together. They met in 1945 while attending high school in Coalgate. On April 11, 1948, they were married in Bonham, Texas. The couple has four children, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, plus two more grandchildren who will be born in July and October. The Leones say they attribute the longevity of their marriage to patience, taking a day at a time and love of family. The Leones’ oldest son and daughter-in-law, John and Pam Leone, are celebrating 30 years of marriage.
Others who will be renewing their vows are: 65 years, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Worthy; 60 years, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Leone; 50 years, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Clark; 45 years, Mr. and Mrs. Larry C. Ober and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Roberts; 40 years, Mr. and Mrs. William Rusk; 30 years, Mr. John and Dr. Diane Canavan Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Crews, Mr. and Mrs. John Leone, Mr. and Mrs. Mike McCormick, Mr. and Mrs. Craig Myers and Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Taron; 25 years, Mr. and Mrs. William Childress and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ferguson; 15 years, Mr. and Mrs. J.
