Voters will decide on a number of races in Lincoln and Seminole counties Tuesday, including sheriff, and polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Incumbent A.T. Brixey did not file for re-election as Lincoln County sheriff, while incumbent Joe Craig, D-Seminole, filed for re-election as Seminole County sheriff.
Twelve candidates are vying for Lincoln County sheriff, including Democratic candidates Dave Sokolowski, Chandler; Earnie Redford, Stroud; Jim Bartlett, Sparks; Charlie Dougherty, Wellston; Bill Sides Jr., Davenport; James L. Hampton, Tryon; Trisha K. Ford, Tryon; and Jerry T. White, Davenport.
Republican candidates running for Lincoln County sheriff are Paul Coffey, Meeker; Dennis E. Rhodes, Agra; Leonard Leafty, Wellston; and Jack Jackson, Wellston.
Running against Craig in his bid for re-election as Seminole County sheriff are Democratic candidates Christopher Rives Heathcott, Seminole, and Brad Morgan, Konawa. No Republican candidates filed for the race.
The race for the Lincoln County Commission District 1 seat includes Don E. Sporleder, R-Davenport; Wayne Corter, D-Cushing; and Brian Stevens, D-Agra. The seat carries a two-year unexpired term.
Incumbent Ricky Taylor, D-Chandler, will retain his seat as Lincoln County District 2 commissioner, having drawn no opposition in his bid for re-election.
Incumbents Debbie Greenfield and Cindy Kirby drew no opposition as well and will retain their seats as Lincoln County clerk and Lincoln County court clerk, respectively.
Joel Simmons, Peggy E. Lawyer and Charles Rikard filed unopposed for seats with Lincoln County Fire Protection districts, and a race will be held between Russell Houser, Wellston, and Kathy Lehman, Harrah, for the director’s position of the Southwestern Lincoln County Fire Protection District.
Simmons, who is from Meeker, will take the seat as director of the Jacktown Fire Protection District, while Lawyer, Wellston, will become director of the Northwest Lincoln County Fire Protection District. Rikard, who is from Sparks, will be director of the Central Lincoln County Fire Protection District.
Incumbent Sharon Post, D-Seminole, drew no opposition in her bid for re-election as Seminole County court clerk.
Candidates Tahasha Wilcots, D-Wewoka, and Emery J. Magruder, D-Seminole, will face off for election as Seminole County clerk.
Incumbent Jvon James, D-Seminole, will face off against fellow Seminole Democrats Noble Hayes and Fred Combs in his bid for re-election as Seminole County District 2 commissioner.
