Shawnee resident Donald R. Dinger, 76, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2008 in Shawnee.
He was born Sept. 12, 1931 in Oklahoma City to John Chester and Julia (Vanlandingham) Dinger. He was reared in Tecumseh; which is where he also graduated. He joined the U.S. Air Force and following his military service, he lived in California for many years. In 1974, he moved to Dallas and then returned to Tecumseh.
A professional dog trainer, he trained Greyhounds and sporting dogs. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid reader.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Deseree and his parents.
He is survived by his son, Richard Lee Dinger of Oklahoma City; brother and sister-in-law, John and Penny Dinger of Richardson, Texas; grandsons, Justin Dinger of Oklahoma City, currently serving in Iraq, and Phineas Dinger of Tennessee; three nieces and three nephews.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh. To share memories or to sign the guest book online, go to www.cooperfuneral.com. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10 a.m.
