The Shawnee Wolves matmen competed in the 10-man championship of the Evangel Holiday Classic in Louisiana and had to beat a pair of teams from their own state to do it.


The Shawnee Wolves matmen competed in the 10-man championship of the Evangel Holiday Classic in Louisiana and had to beat a pair of teams from their own state to do it.
Shawnee began the day with a 46-24 win over Benjamin Russell (Ala.), then beat McLoud, another area team who won the event last year, 47-19, then captured the championship with a 46-24 decision against Edmond Memorial.
The state of Oklahoma had teams finishing at in first (Shawnee), second (Edmond Memorial) and third (McCloud).
“I felt like they came together as a team. Especially in the last two duels. They were tough. We’re looking forward to taking the momentum in to the rest of the season.”
The Wolves got pins from Tyler Daniels (103), Dillon Stevers (112), Zane Tolton (125), Jacob Treat (130), Andrew Smith (135) and Adam Ramiriz (215).
