The Shawnee Walmart recently donated a canopy to the town of Boley to be used in the city’s annual rodeo traffic safety event. The traffic safety event will accompany the 106th annual Boley Rodeo, which will take place this weekend.
According to Boley Police Chief Virgil Green, the Boley Rodeo is the state’s oldest and largest African American rodeo and the city is expecting around 20,000 people to show up this weekend for the event.
Green said the donation from Walmart “will be a great asset to our traffic safety campaign where volunteers distribute valuable traffic safety materials related to occupant protection and drinking and driving. We’re very thankful for the support of Walmart and their donation.”
