Shawnee resident Ora S. Chancellor died Saturday, May 23, 2009, in Shawnee at the age of 101.   


Shawnee resident Ora S. Chancellor died Saturday, May 23, 2009, in Shawnee at the age of 101.       
She was born Aug. 7, 1907  west of Tecumseh to William “Bill” Asbury and Arabella “Bell” Paris (Hammon) Roberts   Reared on a farm and attended school at Bethel. Along with her husband, they farmed north of Shawnee for more than  60 years raising cattle and peanuts.
 On Jan.4, 1924 she married Ray Chancellor in Shawnee.  He preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 1981.
 She was a member of the Broken Needle Club, Shawnee Round-Up Club, Shawnee Saddle Club, Blackburn Chapel, and Dale Methodist Church. She enjoyed riding in parades. 
 She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Delbert Chancellor; three sisters, Ruby Gentry, Thelma Cooper and Opal Stough; and two brothers, Willard Roberts and John Roberts.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law and her husband, Jeanne Chancellor Kelley and Jim Kelley of Shawnee; grandson and his wife, Mike and Angie Chancellor of Oklahoma  City; two great-grandsons, Cody and Matt Chancellor; and numerous nieces andnephews.
Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Russell Currie officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
