  Ronald and Shirley Johnson of Shawnee announce the celebration of their 40th wedding anniversary.
They were married May 23, 1969, at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Shawnee.
After their wedding, Ron continued his enlistment in the U.S. Air Force while being stationed in Galena, Ala. He and Shirley then transferred to F.E. Warren AFB, Wyo., before returning to Oklahoma.
Rob earned a bachelor’s degree in education at The University of Oklahoma then pursued a 25-year career at Tinker Air Force Base before his retirement in 1997.
The couple has three married children; Michael Johnson and his wife Keiko of San Diego, Calif.; Melissa Naas and her husband Edward of Shawnee; and Leslie Terrell and her husband Caleb of Prague.
They also have three grandchildren; Taryn “Punkin” and Kylie “Peanut” Naas and Landon “Tater” Terrell. Their parents are the late Gilbert and Mary Johnson and the late Johnnie and Julie “K.K.” Korhuniak, all of Shawnee.
Ron’s past activities include being a member of the Shawnee Rose Society and co-owner of The Rookies Sports Card and Memorabilia.
Shirley decorated cakes for numerous area events and competitions while being a stay-at-home mom.
The couple resides in Shawnee and enjoys spending time with their grandchildren and family.
