Meeker resident Ruby Dell (Dunbar) Waldrop, 81, passed away Monday, May 25, 2009, at her residence.
She was born October 26, 1927, in Pottawatomie County to Burl and Linnie (Robinson) Dunbar.
She graduated from Earlsboro High School where she played basketball, and on June 1, 1946, she married Greer “Jack” Waldrop in Tecumseh.
She was a housewife and homemaker and also helped Jack on the dairy farm.
She was a member of the Cheerful Home Club for many years, she traveled for nearly 20 years with the Holiday Ramblers Club Chapter 286, she was a member of Aydelotte Baptist Church and enjoyed playing Skip-Bo with friends at the Meeker Senior Citizens Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Larsh Dunbar and Glenn Dunbar, and one sister, Francis Casteel.
She is survived by her husband, Greer “Jack” Waldrop of the home; three children, Kay Waldrop Mitchell of Shawnee, Janie Waldrop Oliver and husband John of Tulsa, Tim Waldrop and Joy Foster of Prague; seven grandchildren, Tim and Becky Mitchell, Jason and Merita Mitchell, Kara and Clint Chapman, Matt Waldrop and Heather Holley, Doug and Cathy Waldrop, Ben Barton, and Zachary Barton; four great-grandchildren, Allyson Waldrop, Gavin and Degan Waldrop, and Bradley Bracket; two sisters, Elizabeth Ann Thompson and Eddie Penisten, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2009, at Aydelotte Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Gore officiating under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
