Shawnee native Michael Stone, 61, continues to entertain locals in Oklahoma with his Rajun Cajun & Tambourine Show, although he now lives in Florida, thanks to the popular Web site YouTube.com.
Stone, who performed two free tambourine shows last year in Shawnee while visiting his parents, recently added four videos of his performances on YouTube.
Stone, a 1966 graduate of Shawnee High School, received associate and bachelor’s degrees from the Freed-Hardeman University in Tennessee, a master’s degree from Alabama’s Troy University and a doctorate from Southwest Seminary in Louisiana.
Since that time, he has recorded two compact discs with Starlight Records and plans to release a third CD next year.
His music, which is a mix of Louisiana Cajun and New Orleans Rhythm and Blues, is family-friendly and, along with his shows, is rated G.
Stone has performed for the national, some state and many county governments in addition to performing at hundreds of other live shows.
He has been called “one of the very best professional players of the half moon rhythm tech tambourine.”
Although the majority of his performances are in Florida, Stone does entertain audiences in other states, as well.
