Shawnee resident Michele Volpe received the Oklahoma Department of Human Services’ top honor for Personal Care Assistants April 30.
Volpe was named PCA of the Year at the annual PCA Conference held at the National Center of Employee Development in Norman. The 2009 theme was “The Sky’s the Limit.”
Volpe, an employee of HealthCare Innovations Private Services in Seminole, was nominated last year, but this marks her first win. In addition to the award trophy, Volpe received a cash award and a Lieutenant Governor’s Commendation plaque.
After winning, Volpe expressed her surprise and thanked the office staff for “putting up with her,” which was seen as a humorous statement by those in attendance in light of her selfless devotion to her clients’ well being.
Volpe has been an employee at the Seminole branch since August 2006.
HCIPS is a privately owned, Oklahoma-based company headquartered in Sallisaw that provides in-home care to elderly and disabled persons through the Advantage Program.
