“All Things Paper,” July 13-17, will feature kites, origami, paper sculpture, and many more paper constructions by Clay Little and Lacy Abbott. “Inspiring Instruments,” July 20-24, will allow students to create clay ocarinas, Native American flutes and more taught by Brother Isidore Harden, OSB and Donna Merkt.
The prices for the creative arts camps start at $60 per week, with discounts for multiple classes, multiple siblings and for members of the museum. Partial scholarships are available for those who qualify for free or reduced lunch at school.
In addition, the museum has added “It’s Alive!: Flipbook Animation” for fifth- through eighth-graders. They will learn to turn their drawings into a miniature movie with flipbook animation, taught by Daniel Lay. This workshop is $15 for members and $20 for non-members.
A new item this year is a program for the youngest artists. “Primary Partners” is for children 3 to 5 years old. These young children will enjoy visiting the museum and making unique artworks with a parent or grandparent. “Primary Partners” is scheduled for Saturdays, June 6, 13 and 20. These sessions will be taught by art educator and local teacher Lynn Pollei. Each session, for a child and an adult, is $15 for members and $20 for non-members.
