Mildred (Mimi) Van Wagner, 96, died May 27, 2009 in Oklahoma City, OK.
She was born Oct. 13, 1912 in Roswell, New Mexico Territory, to George and Elizabeth Littlefield French of the Littlefield cattlemen family. Mimi had two sisters and a brother, all of whom predeceased her. She attended Lindenwood College and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1934.
Mildred married Harris Van Wagner of Okemah, Okla., in 1936. They lived in Shawnee where Harris practiced law until his death in 2001. Mimi taught high school English in Shawnee for fifteen years after raising three sons and a nephew. She was a devoted member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, P.E.O., Junior Service League of Shawnee, St Paul’s United Methodist Church and many civic organizations. Mildred was also affectionately known as Frenchy, Mimi, Mim and as Miss Millie to her beloved Grandmother. She was a delightful lady with a sharp sense of humor and a kind word about everyone.
She will be greatly missed by her four sons, Harris Van Wagner Jr. and wife Barbara of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, George Van Wagner and wife Alma of Edmond, Okla., James Van Wagner and wife Madeline of Kansas City, Kan., and Tom James and wife Jan of Groveland, Calif.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
 Visitation with the family will be Sunday May 31, from 2 to 4 pm at Walker Funeral Service.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2009 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Kim Domnick, and Dr. Jerry Ball, with burial following at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
