Dale resident Robert L. Hayes, 61, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 27, 2009, while under the care of Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
He was born May 20, 1948 in Linwood, Calif. He was in the U.S. Army and served two tours in Vietnam. He worked at Barton Valve where he traveled the world. He worked as a concrete finisher with lifelong friend, Robert Hale, until 2008.
Robert is preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Hayes; his brother, David Hayes; and his niece, Sheila Hayes.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 37 years, Mary Hayes; his father, Nim Hayes; his son and daughter-in-law, Nim Hayes II and Terri Hayes of Shawnee; his three daughters and son-in-law, Bobbie Lee and Kenneth Jones of Dale, Carla Phillips of Shawnee, and Patty Tucker of Ardmore; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandson; his brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Susan Hayes of Enid. He is also survived by Nathan Coleman, a lifelong friend and member of the family, as well as a host of other amazing  friends.
Service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at Crosstown Outreach Church, 622 S. Park, Shawnee, Okla.
