Shawnee resident Hazel Lee Behrnes, 87, went to be with the Lord Thursday May 29, 2009, while a resident at Colonial Nursing Home, she fought a courageous battle against lung cancer for 7 months.


Shawnee resident Hazel Lee Behrnes, 87, went to be with the Lord Thursday May 29, 2009, while a resident at Colonial Nursing Home, she fought a courageous battle against lung cancer for 7 months.
She was born in Prague, Okla., August 29, 1921 to Clarence Otis McAnally and Ida Beatrice Hensley. She was retired from Tinker Air Force Base. She was married to George Behrnes, on July 31, 1937, he preceded her in death on August 29, 1987.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Ron Schornick, of Shawnee; one grandson, Jeffrey Behrnes; one step-grandson and his wife, Robert and Paula Schornick and two step-granddaughters, Terran and Shayne. She is also survived by her sister and husband, Imogene and Richard McGinnis of Spiro, Okla.; three sisters-in-law, Ida James and Pansy McAnally, both of Prague and Ola Davis of Seminole; and numerous nieces and nephews, and other close friends and family.
No services are scheduled as were her wishes, there will be a private burial at a later date.
