Shawnee Veterans Memorial Park Committee members Cecil Johnston, Tom Smith, Joe Freeman, Al Wright and David Boardman were on hand to receive a check in the amount of $2,500 from the Shawnee Senior Center. Kate Joyce, SSC executive director, presented the check on behalf of the center’s participants, staff and members of the Senior Citizens of Shawnee Board of Directors. 

These funds are designated to purchase a black, marble park bench for the Woodland-Veterans Memorial Park.

Seniors raised these funds through personal donations and by participating in fundraising programs held at the Shawnee Senior Center, such as raffles, proceeds from sale of soda, coffee and snacks, bingo and room rentals.
