The Pottawatomie County New Readers Book Club and Tutor Café will meet at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 22, in the conference room of the Shawnee Public Library, 101 N. Philadelphia Ave.
The program gives a chance for literacy students and tutors to meet in a group to read and discuss books together. After the book club, tutors also have the chance to discuss learning strategies and plan for upcoming events.
The program is led by Beth Lyle, literacy coordinator for Pottawatomie County for the Pioneer Library System’s Literacy Services department.
Registration is not required.

Cupcake class offered for children at Tecumseh library
The Tecumseh Public Library’s “Crunch-a-Bunch” Cupcake Class has been rescheduled for 4 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 24, at the library, 114 N. Broadway St.
The class is for ages 5 to 11, and children ages 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult. The group will make and decorate marshmallow treat cupcakes.
Class size is limited, so registration is required, either through the library, by calling 598-5955 or going online at www.justsoyouknow.us/tecumseh.
 “Talk of the Town” book discussion in Tecumseh
The Tecumseh Public Library’s Talk of the Town Book Discussion takes place at 6:30, p.m., Thursday, Feb. 24, in the Tecumseh City Hall auditorium adjacent to the library, 114 N. Broadway St.
The monthly event features a potluck and book discussion targeted to adults and teens.
