The Dale Pirates got a handful on Saturday night as they took out Christian Heritage 53-48 in double overtime to gain a Class 2A district title and advance into Thursday’s regional tournament. Dale had lost to Christian Heritage just before the Christmas break.

The Dale Pirates got a handful on Saturday night as they took out Christian Heritage 53-48 in double overtime to gain a Class 2A district title and advance into Thursday’s regional tournament. Dale had lost to Christian Heritage just before the Christmas break.
Daniel Banks led the offensive charge for Dale with 19 points while Evan Anderson collected 18.
A trey by Kenny Woolridge of Christian Heritage sent the game into overtime.
Each team scored just three points in the first overtime before Dale pulled away in the second OT. Dale hit 5 of 6 free throws to end the game.
Dale will play the winner of the Thomas-Hinton district game at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Minco.
The roles were reversed in the girls game as Christian Heritage engineered a 49-35 win over Dale. Dale prevailed in overtime during the regular season.
Breck Clark was the only double-figure scorer for Dale with 17 points.
Dale will play at 1:30 Thursday in a losers bracket contest at Minco.
