Yahola Jones of Shawnee came up just short of a Class 5A regional title Saturday night when he dropped a 5-4 decision to 119-pound foe Jordan Litton of Altus.


 Yahola Jones of Shawnee came up just short of a Class 5A regional title Saturday night when he dropped a 5-4 decision to 119-pound foe Jordan Litton of Altus.
Jones took a 4-3 lead with a third-period takedown but Litton earned a late reverse for the victory.
Jones still advances to Friday’s state tournament at Oklahoma City’s State Fair Arena along with teammates Michael Smith (112), Corey Todd (135) and Daylan Stuteville (140).
Stuteville came in third by pinning John O’Neal of Lawton MacArthur in 3:18. Smith, a 5-2 loser to Ada’s Jamie Copeland, and Todd, a loser to Brock Williams of Lawton MacArthur, finished fourth.
The top four finishers in each weight division automatically qualify for state.
Smith won three earlier matches Saturday, defeating a state placer and a state qualifier from last year. All three of his wins were by pins.
