For the third straight day, Earlsboro avoided elimination at a Class A regional tournament.
The Wildcats ended Fort Towson’s season with a 40-38 decision Saturday afternoon. By raising its record to 22-7, Earlsboro advanced to Thursday’s area tournament at McAlester’s Expo Center. Earlsboro will contest either Stuart or Smithville at 8 p.m.
The Wildcats must win three area tourney games to move to the state tournament.
With Saturday’s game tied at 38, Earlsboro cleared out the right side and Zach Miller drove in and hit a contested, short-range shot for the win.
Miller finished with 12 points while teammate Austin Hopper sank two 3-point shots and finished with 18 points.
