James Melvin Billins, Sr., 88, of Oklahoma City, was born Aug. 23, 1922, in  Wichita Falls, Texas. He was the son of  James and Beulah (Ward) Billins. He left this life Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, in Oklahoma City.


James Melvin Billins, Sr., 88, of Oklahoma City, was born Aug. 23, 1922, in  Wichita Falls, Texas. He was the son of  James and Beulah (Ward) Billins. He left this life Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, in Oklahoma City.
James proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He married Ruby O. Webb Dec. 24, 1941, in Crowder.  He worked as an aircraft mechanic at FAA for many years.  James was a member and deacon of the Minneha Free Will Baptist Church for 40 years and the Canadian Association of Free Will Baptist. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, yard work and loved all animals, especially dogs and cats.
James was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Roy and Bobby; two brothers, Oliver and Benny; four sisters, A.J., Mildred, Louise, and Faye; and one grandson, Larry Billins.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby O. Billins, Oklahoma City; two sons and daughter-in-law, James and Margaret Billins, of McLoud, Melvin Billins and special friend, Ron Baker, of Nicoma Park; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Ron Roberts, of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson, Kyler Noak; and many other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel, Harrah. Interment will follow at Dale Cemetery, Dale.
