Mary Ruth Banta, 77, of Purcell, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, in Oklahoma City.
Services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clint Dawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, of Tecumseh.

Mary was born Jan. 20, 1934, in Macomb to William Harvey Day and Mary Violet (Morrel) Day. Mary was raised in Macomb and graduated from Macomb High School in 1950. She married Marlan Clinton Banta June 21, 1950, in Gainsville, Texas. She and her husband lived in various places throughout Oklahoma and Texas. She was a member of the Romulus Baptist Church. Mary was a homemaker. She loved to sew and take care of her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her treasures.
She was preceded in death by her husband May 19, 2003; one son, Marlan Clinton Banta, Jr.; one brother, Glen Day, and one sister, Eula May Greenley.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Marla Purkey, of Sapulpa; Tempest and Ron Sullivan, of Sapulpa; two sons and three daughters-in-law, John and Linda Banta, of Purcell, Coy W. and Tedi Banta, of Houston, Texas, and Florence Banta, of Healdton; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one sister, Ina May Vinyard.
