Thirteen area high school students have been selected to serve on the First National Bank and Trust Co.’s Student Board for the spring semester.
The students include:
Grant Barrick, Allie Evans, Kaily O’Connor, Hannah Stanley and Lauren Clement, students at Shawnee High School, along with Kyle Fowler and Jordyn Dye, Tecumseh High School; Mallory Dinsmore and Clint Duncan, Bethel High School; Baylee Burgess, Dale High School; Mercee Nelson, Family of Faith; Azia Lester, Meeker High School; and Caitlin Hodde, McLoud High School.
Designed to allow students the opportunity to explore the banking profession, First National Bank selects high school students each semester to participate in the program based on the recom- mendation of counselors and school administrators.
The program provides students with information concerning career opportunities, banking products and services, the current banking environment and what that means to consumers and businesses, compliance and regulation, and information about financial planning, investments, and personal and commercial lending.
Student board members serve four months and attend monthly meetings at First National Bank, during which FNB officers and industry professionals present a broad spectrum of information about banking.
To conclude the program, the students take a field trip to Oklahoma City to tour the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), and
learn valuable information regarding identity theft from an OSBI agent.
Upon completion and in response to their involvement and attendance, each student receives one hour of college credit for a Business Leadership class through Seminole State College.
