Ms. Laveta “Lolly” Ashley, an enrolled tribal member of the Sac and Fox Nation, has been a hair dresser/stylist for 32 years and ever since she completed her professional training she wanted to own her own business.
She has spent 32 years working at other salons for other business owners/managers. Her dream came true in November 2010 when she had her “official” opening of her own salon in Shawnee.
She says she is now one of few Native American women who is a small business owner.
It is through prayer and the support of her family, friends, relatives and hard work plus a “vision/dream,” she said, that she now can provide the type of professional hair care to her customers that she has always dreamed of doing one day.
Ashley has been an active member within the Sac and Fox Nation where she served on numerous Committees, Boards, and Commissions for years. She is also a wife, mother and grandmother.
