St. Gregory’s women closed their 2010-11 season on a winning note Saturday night, decisioning Northwestern Oklahoma State, 63-58.
Leticia Silva was easily the offensive sparkplug with game-high figures in points scored (31) and rebounds (10). Silva was nine-of-16 shooting from the floor, including a 66.6 percent (6-of-9) effort from beyond the 3-point line. Silva had a 39-minute playing stint.
The Lady Cavaliers finished with a 3-19 mark in the Sooner Athletic Conference and finished in last place. Silva also canned seven of nine free throws. St. Gregory’s was 7-22 overall on the season.
Nicole Harris was St. Gregory’s other double-figure scorer with 11.
St. Gregory’s hit 37.5 percent (21-of-56) of its field goals. the same exact percentage of Northwestern State (10-17, 6-16). The visitors, however, hit only 20 percent (3-of-15) of their shots from beyond the 3-point line.
St. Gregory’s men failed to conclude their season on a winning note, falling 80-62 to Northwestern State.
Northwestern State (20-10, 14-8) led 38-26 at the half.
St. Gregory’s, which finished the season at 2-20 in the SAC and 5-21 overall, was only 36.4 percent (20-of-55) from the field, including just 16.7 percent (3-of-18) from 3-point range.
Fayzon Richey of St. Gregory’s had a team-high 23 points, including an 11-of-12 performance at the charity stripe. St. Gregory’s was 65.5 percent (19-of-29) from the free-throw line.
