An Oklahoma City charity has reorganized its leadership and adopted more stringent standards of governance and reporting.

The Jesus House announced Wednesday that the charity's new governing board has hired former assistant attorney general Rick Denny as the executive director.

The charity in downtown Oklahoma City provides shelter, food and clothing to the homeless and the poor, including those with mental illness and substance abuse issues.

The charity's former executive director retired in May after allegations of financial mismanagement arose.

Chairperson Kim Byrd says Denny's legal background will help the charity with compliance and regulatory matters.

Officials say the organization is working toward accreditation from the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability. Denny says that will allow the charity to earn the trust and confidence of its donors.
