Shawnee police officers nabbed three alleged vehicle burglars overnight Tuesday.

Police responded to the 1900 block of North Market about 1:58 a.m. after a witness reported three males wearing dark clothing were breaking into a vehicle. The three suspects fled after being noticed, but Officer Jay Keehn came upon three males walking southbound on Kickapoo from Federal Street while en route to the call.

All three were detained, with the witness later identifying them as the same persons involved in the vehicle burglary.

The owner of the vehicle reported three items missing — a CD case with CDs, a case for headphones and the owner’s manual. All those items were found by homes along on West Federal Street, the report shows.

Two of the suspects, ages 17 and 14, were ordered by a judge into Carter Hall Juvenile Detention Center, while a 19-year-old was taken to jail on a burglary complaint.
