Quarterback Garrett Clark passed for 204 yards and two touchdowns while Trenton Newson ran for 179 yards on 10 carries and scored twice as the Seminole Chieftains remained unbeaten and clinched the District 3A-8 championship with a convincing 61-6 rout of host Hugo Friday night.

Clark was 13-of-15 passing as he connected with Trevor Martin on a 22-yard scoring pass and hooked up with Tyler O’Daniel on an 8-yard TD effort. Clark also ran for a 9-yard TD to open the game.

Martin finished the game with five receptions for 118 yards and the one touchdown while O’Daniel had five grabs for 35 yards and the one score.

Newson had touchdown runs of 17 and 75 yards as Seminole rolled up 603 yards of offense, including 399 on the ground.

Also reaching the end zone for the Chieftains were Papi White on a 1-yard sprint and Diomtrey Hulbutta on a 41-yard scamper in the third quarter. Trey Ervin and Jayce Cravens each had a 10-yard scoring run in the second half.

Hugo was limited to 190 yards of total offense, including just 77 in the rushing department.

Seminole’s Xavier Freeman intercepted one Buffalo pass as the hosts were only 5-of-14 for 113 yards through the airways.
Hugo’s only score came off a 68-yard run by Trey Johnson in the first quarter.

The Chieftains, 9-0 overall and 6-0 in the district, visit Eufaula next Friday night to close out the regular season.
