An Annual School Runoff Election will be held for Board of Education Office No. 2 in Wellston School District on Tuesday, April 3.

State law requires the runoff election if no candidate in the regular annual school election receives more than 50 percent of the total votes cast.

Melissa Stambaugh, secretary of the Lincoln County Election Board, said that Board of Education candidates Kevin W. Wallace and Amanda Kay Tillison received the highest number of votes in the Feb. 14 election and therefore will meet in the runoff election on April 3.

Tillison received 139 votes in the annual school election, while Wallace received 137 votes.  A total of 327 votes were cast in the election.

Special Elections will also be held for Chandler school district, Luther School District and Cushing School District, on April 3.

Voters who are registered and reside at an address within the geographical boundaries of the above school districts are eligible to vote in the election on April 3.

The deadline to register to vote in the April 3  elections is Friday, March 9.

Stambaugh said that persons who are United States citizens, residents of Oklahoma, and at least 18 years old may apply to become registered voters.
