According to Melissa Stambaugh, Secretary of the Lincoln County Election Board, statewide election activity begins officially at 8 a.m., Wednesday, April 11, when the filing period opens. The filing period will remain open until 5 p.m., Friday, April 13. Due to changes in the law the filing period is being held earlier in the year and on different days of the week.

Candidates for state offices file with the Secretary of the State Election Board. Candidates for county offices file with the Secretary of the County Election Board. Candidate filing forms and information for both state and county office-seekers is available on-line at www.elections. ok.gov. Click the “Elections” tab at the top of the homepage, then select “Candidate Filing.” Filing forms are also available at the County Election Board office located in the courthouse at Chandler.

Stambaugh said that the following county offices will be filled this year: Lincoln County Clerk, County Clerk, Sheriff, Commissioner of District 2. Also open this year are, Director of the Southwestern Fire District No. 1, Jacktown Fire District, Northwest Fire District and the Central Lincoln County Fire District No. 4.
