The Cavaliers trailed 6-2 after four frames, and the Stars tacked on an insurance run in the top of the seventh.

The Cavs got seven hits, including a solo home run from Dillon Streber and a triple from designated hitter Jacob Douglas. Catcher Trey Sears offered up a double.

The Stars got two HRs from Miguel Beltran, and one apiece from shortstop Chris Munoz and Kale Gaden. Munoz’s blast was good for three runs.

OCU’s Jonathan Sigado clubbed a double.

Starter Rich Hawkins picked up the win, striking out four and walking one in improving to 8-1. SGU starter Chance Gilbert fanned eight and walked four in 8 1/3 innings, and the loss evened his mark to 4-4.

Now 15-15 overall and 9-4 in the SAC, St. Gregory’s will continue the three-game series with OCU with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday at the Stars’ Jim Wade Stadium.
