Three of Dale’s four hits were for extra bases Thursday as Class 2A’s top-ranked Pirates forged a 9-1 win over Class 4A’s No. 4 Perkins-Tryon at the McLoud Tournament.

Landon Coon struck for a two-run home run in the fourth inning, and Evan Anderson finished at 2-for-2 with a double and a single. Asa Manship clubbed a triple.

Dale led 2-0 after two innings, then added two runs in the third and five in the fourth. The Dragons got their lone run in the top of the fourth.

The game was stopped after 4 1/2 frames.

Chance Bunch and Logan Mullins combined to walk seven Dale batters and plunk one, and the Perkins-Tryon defense committed four errors. Dale remained errorless.

“We played pretty good and took advantage of their mistakes,” said Dale head coach Jerry Sanford, whose Pirates improve to 8-2.

Jace Wilkins (2-0) went the distance for Dale, surrendering three hits while fanning five, walking two and hitting one batsman.

Dale will oppose 4A’s 14th-ranked Blanchard at 6:45 p.m. today in McLoud.
