The Shawnee High School Band under the direction of Kirby Swinney, John Slish and Jan Steffen has produced a group of young men and women who deserved the two standing ovations they received Tuesday night from a packed house at The Performing Arts Center at Shawnee High School.
My wife and I have not missed a single performance in the last four years. Every year they became more accomplished than the previous year.
The wife and I attended the last performance of the year last night. What an outstanding performance they gave. The special arrangement of “Amazing Grace” performed in honor of the late Taylor Ricks was, in my opinion, one of their shining moments. The special arrangement of “Amazing Grace” will never be topped.
Thank you Mr. Swinney and Mr. Slish and Ms. Steffen for your outstanding work you have done this year!
Mr. Slish is moving on to other endeavors; we will miss him and wish him God’s speed.
