  • Four OBU track athletes named All-District

  • Four Oklahoma Baptist University track athletes have been named Capital One Academic All-District 7 and are now eligible for Academic All-America honors.

  • Four Oklahoma Baptist University track athletes have been named Capital One Academic All-District 7 and are now eligible for Academic All-America honors.
    Nathan Ellis, Neal Ellis and Cordell Baker from the OBU men’s track team, and Lady Bison Evan Shimanek have been voted onto the team and are now nominees for the national honor.
    Nathan Ellis, a senior from Sapulpa, carried a 3.54 grade point average in biology. He finished 11th in the marathon.
    Neal Ellis, a junior from Midlothian, Texas, has a 3.93 GPA in applied communications. He competed at nationals in the 3000 meter steeplechase.
    Baker, a junior from Sapulpa, has a 3.89 GPA in biology and competed in the 10,000 meters and qualified in the marathon at the NAIA meet.
    Shimanek, a junior from Hennessey, has a 3.96 GPA in pre-allied health. She placed second in the NAIA in the pole vault for OBU’s national championship team.
    District 7 includes schools from Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Wyoming, Montana and Idaho.
