  • Paul V. Heck Jr., 61, slipped peacefully into his Savior’s loving embrace on Monday, June 25, 2012.
    He was born Oct. 14, 1950, to Paul Sr. and Fannie (England) Heck, at the AC&H Hospital in Shawnee.
    Paul had such a sweet spirit and was loved by all who knew him. He enjoyed spending time with his family and getting away to Flint Ridge, where he loved to fish, canoe and visit the neighbors in his golf cart.
    Paul enlisted in the Marine Corp in 1969 at the age of 18 and received the Purple Heart while serving his country in Vietnam. Following his military service, he was an officer with the Shawnee Police Department for seven years, and then worked as a security police officer and aircraft mechanic at Tinker AFB prior to his retirement.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother who was called into God’s presence before birth, a granddaughter, Kylee Heck, a grandson, Freddie Aaron Britton, and a nephew, Kamran Teheranchi.
    Paul is survived by his wife, Janice; mother-in-law, Lydia Shorter, Fort Worth, Texas; sons, Paul V. III (Trae) of Shawnee, Everett and daughter-in-law, Angie, of Choctaw; step daughter, Andrea and Jimmy Lee Miley of Tulsa; step son, Dustin Bowden of Tulsa; sister, Paula Kaye and Cyrus Teheranchi of Sugar Land, Texas; brother, Harold and Shirley of Shawnee; brothers-in-law, Phillip and Carol Lynn Shorter and Rev. Dale and Gilda Shorter of Forth Worth, Texas; eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends whom he cherished.
    Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 27, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. to greet, and Thursday morning until services begin. Services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 28, at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel.
