  • For some people, seeing Europe is a box to be checked off on their bucket list. But, at 11 years old, Rose Templeton can cross that off and move on to the next thing.
Rose was selected by People-to-People to be a student ambassador this summer. The only student from Shawnee to go, she traveled to Europe where she stayed in London for a week and Paris for a week. During her stays, she traveled the countries and was able to meet many different people.
During her stay in England she met a member of Parliament, saw Buckingham Palace and the London Eye, a large glass Ferris wheel that seated all of the 48 youths in her group.
After their stay in England, the group traveled overnight to France, stopping in Normandy for a day.
In Normandy the group visited the World War II memorial. From there they traveled to Paris where they saw Versailles, the Lourve, and Rose’s personal favorite: the Eiffel Tour.
“We got in an elevator and it went sideways instead of up and down,” she said. “And when we got up there we could see everything.”
Rose encouraged anyone who had this kind of an opportunity to take it.
“It ended up being really fun and life changing,” she said. “You make a lot of friends.”
