  • Oklahoma Baptist University’s overall athletic program has been ranked fourth in the NAIA for overall success in the 2011-2012 Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings.
Officials say university varsity athletes compiled a 3.01 grade point average for the academic year.
The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup honors institutions that maintain a broad-based program and achieves success in many sports, both men’s and women’s.
Oklahoma Baptist fielded 19 varsity teams for the year, and won national championships in men’s swimming and diving and women’s outdoor track and field. The Oklahoma Baptist men’s basketball, women’s indoor track and field, and women’s swimming and diving teams each finished second in the nation.
The university is adding women’s lacrosse for the 2012-2013 year, and varsity football will return next year.
