  • Tri-County athletes to play at Tulsa-area sites

  • Thirteen Tri-County standouts will display their athletic talents this week in five Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State sporting events.
    All of the Tri-County All-Staters will be in action at Tulsa-area sites.
    The week will kick off Monday with the golf competition at the Cherokee Hills Club course in Catoosa.
    Jordan Humphrey of Bethel and Kurstyn Mills of Shawnee are members of the East girls’ squad. Seminole’s Blade Knox will be on the East boys’ team.
    The first tee times are slated for 8:30 a.m.
    Three Tuesday sporting events include area representatives.
    Landon Coon and Asa Manship, members of Dale’s 2011-12 fall and spring state championship baseball squads, are on the Small East roster. The Small School contest is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. At J.L. Johnson Stadium on the campus of Oral Roberts University.
    No area players will be part of the 7 p.m. Large School game.
    The All-State tennis matches scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center at the University of Tulsa will include Shawnee’s Anthony Davis.
    Another Shawnee product, Mayci Sparkman, is on the Small East volleyball team that will play at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Broken Arrow High School.
    Four area entrants will be in action Wednesday.
    Taylor Cooper, a vital part in Shawnee’s 29-0 state championship basketball run, will play for the Large East squad at 8:30 p.m. at the Mabee Center at Oral Roberts.
    Cooper, who averaged 13.2 points for Shawnee, will play collegiately at Oral Roberts.
    Two other Tri-County products, Brooke Watkins of Prague and Kenzie Solberg of Chandler, are members of the Small East basketball team that will play at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Mabee Center.
    Prague advanced to the Class 3A state championship game before bowing to Millwood. Chandler was also in the 3A state tournament field.
    Thursday’s All-State boys’ basketball scene at the Mabee Center will include Shawnee’s Dejoun Sanders on the Large East roster.
    The Large School contest is slated to tip off at 8:30 p.m. After the 7 p.m. Small School matchup.
    Brendon Johnson of Varnum is on the Small East roster.
