The annual “Kick-off Supper” held before Shawnee’s first home football game is scheduled Aug. 31 and all proceeds from the dinner fundraiser will be used for student scholarships.
The Junior Service League sponsors the annual fundraiser and has a goal this year of raising $7,000 for the scholarship fund, said Melisssa McQuiston, publicity chair for the JSL.
The supper will be held 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Shawnee High School gym.
On the menu will be items such as chilidogs and Frito Chili pies. Cost is $7 per ticket for both adults and children, she said.
“One hundred percent of the net profits go back to seniors,” she said, as the money goes to the scholarship fund.
This year’s seniors will be eligible to apply for scholarships, she said, and a committee will chose the recipients at the end of the school year in May.
Tickets for the “Kick-off Supper” can be purchased in advance from any Junior Service League member or by contacting Kellie Steele, 878-0514. Tickets also can be purchased at the door.
The “Kick-off supper” will precede the 7:30 p.m. football game between Shawnee and Bishop McGuinness at Jim Thorpe Stadium.
