  • Jeffrey Scott McKimmey, age 51, passed from this life to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012.
Jeffrey was born Aug. 15, 1961, in Shawnee, the youngest son of Joseph E. McKimmey and Jettie M.  (Chesser) McKimmey.
He leaves surviving him his parents; his sister, Catherine Ross of San Antonio, Texas; his brother, Steve McKimmey and sister-in-law, Francia McKimmey, of Plano, Texas. He is also survived by four nephews and one niece who will miss him terribly. He is also survived by a very special person in his life; his grandmother, Georgia Chesser and several aunts and uncle and cousins.
Jeff graduated from Shawnee High School in 1979 and attended Oklahoma University.
For many years Jeff was a resident of Jackson Hole, Wyo., a place dear to his heart where he enjoyed the fishing, hospitality and other benefits of that scenic country. He returned to Shawnee, the place of his birth and childhood, in July of this year following a long illness.
Though weakened and eventually taken by his physical infirmity, his spirit and sense of humor were never quashed.  He complained of nothing and gave a cheery thumbs up to every blessing given him by God and those around him.
Services will be held on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at 10 a.m. at The First Church of the Nazarene, Shawnee.
The family will be at Walker Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 13, to visit with friends. The casket will not be opened at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Local Benevolent Fund of the Church of the Nazarene.
