Despite posting 387 yards of offense, Maud dropped its first game of the season Friday night via a 54-32 decision to District C-4 foe Thackerville.

Thackerville out-rushed Maud 305-236 as quarterback Tanner McCage recorded scoring runs of 25, 8 and 44 yards.

Quarterback Tyler Storment of Maud rushed for 209 yards on 31 carries, including touchdown runs of 44 yards and 14 yards.

Thackerville led 30-6 at one first-half juncture before Storment unreeled three scoring passes — 50 yards to Dalton Robason, 25 yards to Andrew Browning and 70 yards to Aarron Dillman — to bring Maud within 38-32 entering the final quarter.

“We could have quit when we were down 30-6,” said Maud coach Bruce Harrell.

“They were just a little better than we were. We will go back to work Monday and try to get a little better.”

Dillman had two receptions for 71 yards.

Robason recovered a fumble, Thackerville’s sole turnover. Maud had two turnovers.

Maud will travel to Destiny Christian, an independent, Thursday. The kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
