Class 5A's seventh-ranked Shawnee moved to 25-10 on the year Monday after suffering a 3-2 loss to Cache at the Shawnee High School Performing Arts and Athletic Center. Shawnee won the opening set, 25-16, before suffering back-to-back losses over the next two sets (25-22, 26-24). The Lady Wolves came from behind to win the fourth set, 26-24, but fell 16-14 in the final set. “We started strong, then let up and didn't play aggressive when it came to tight points,” said Shawnee head coach Julia Holland. “We played well, but we just couldn't finish when we needed to finish.” Jasmine Robinson led the Lady Wolves in kills with 22, and she added 41 digs. Fellow senior Taylor Britt picked up 14 kills and 29 digs. The SHS freshmen team defeated Cache Monday, 25-15 and 25-12. The JV Lady Wolves also won, 25-8 and 25-15. Shawnee will celebrate senior night today against visiting Del City. Holland's seniors this year are Britt, Robinson, Vanessa Weger and Victoria Richardson. The freshmen teams will play at 4 p.m. today, followed by the JV teams at 5 p.m. Senior night activities will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the varsity game. Note: Report compiled by Jason Smith.
