  • Seminole State went 3-1 over a two-day stay at Hutchinson Community College as the Lady Trojans picked up wins over Hutchinson, Barton Community College and Frank Phillips College. SSC fell to Missouri State-West Plains in its fourth game. The Lady Trojans won three out of five sets opposite Hutchinson (25-21, 25-19, 15-10), and won all three sets opposite Barton (25-19, 25-21, 25-21). SSC won all three against Frank Phillips (25-22, 25-17, 25-21), but won only two of five against MSU-West Plains (25-16, 25-21). Seminole State’s Sofija Berezovska piled on 62 kills, 22 blocks, seven digs, five assists and three aces over the weekend, and teammate Kitija Jegne led in assists with 175. Megne picked up 36 kills, 37 digs and 10 blocks. Halee Clark and Kelsey Betus combined for 89 kills and 19 blocks, and Clark also garnered 18 assists and six digs. Brandi Nickelson got 79 digs, four assists and three aces, and Sabra Boes came away with 44 digs, three assists and one ace. “The girls had a great weekend,” said SSC coach Doug Byrd. “I couldn’t have asked for anything more of these young ladies. They left everything out on the floor and played amazing.” SSC will face Cowley at 6:30 p.m. today in Arkansas City, Kan. Note: Report compiled by Jason Smith.
